Seven things to do and see in Zandvoort as Formula 1 races in the Netherlands

Zandvoort is a coastal town west of Amsterdam popular for its long, sandy beach on the North Sea that has coastal dunes and trails.

Formula 1 races at Zandvoort for 72 laps at an undulating track that swoops and flows through the sand dunes, creating a rollercoaster-like feel to the lap.

Here, Travel News Blitz’s Ayla Vaughan explores seven things to do and see in Zandvoort.

Zandvoort Beach

Zandvoort Beach is a great place for relaxation and water sports with its numerous pavilions and restaurants located along the shore.

It is over nine kilometres long and 90 meters wide on average, meaning there is plenty to do depending on whether you would prefer to sunbathe, swim, surf, kitesurf or paddleboard.

Zandvoorts Museum

Zandvoorts Museum showcases the history of this small Dutch town, displaying photos, art and artefacts from a variety of time periods.

It illustrates the development of Zandvoort from a poor fishing village to a posh seaside resort, showcasing furniture, old tools, glassware, pottery, costumes and old beachwear.

Kennemer Golf & Country Club

If you wish to try your hand at another sport, Kennemer Golf & Country Club is perfect to explore the links and enjoy Zandvoort’s stunning scenery.

Dating back to the 1920s, this golf course was designed by the famous architect Harry Colt and has hosted several Dutch Opens, with a total of 27 holes available to play.

Watch the Dutch Grand Prix

Formula 1 visits the Netherlands from August 29-31 as the sport returns back from the summer break with the drivers ready to race once again, especially Max Verstappen who is a home hero.

The circuit is also known for its banking at certain corners, rivalling the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by having an 18 degrees banking.

The facade of the shop makes it definitely stand out with a red car above the shop, a checkered flag background and its several items of Max Verstappen merchandise in the front windows.
