Seven things to do and see in Berlin as Formula E visits Germany

From its beginnings in the 13th century to the modern day Berlin, the capital of Germany, is a place full of history and art.

Formula E races in Berlin for rounds 13 and 14 of the 2025 season, with home team Porsche hoping to win here in front of their fans.

Here, Travel News Blitz’s Ayla Vaughan explores seven things to do and see in Berlin.

Pergamon Museum

The Pergamon Museum houses impressive reconstructions of massive archaeological structures such as the Pergamon Altar, Market Gate of Miletus, the Ishtar Gate and Processional Way from Babylon and the Mshatta Facade.

It has three wings that each house a collection - Antiquity Collection (Antikensammlung), Islamic Art Museum (Museum für Islamische Kunst) and The Middle East Museum (Vorderasiatisches Museum).

Berlin Cathedral

The Berlin Cathedral is a German Protestant church and dynastic tomb that is built in a Neo-Renaissance style, but its origins can be traced back to the 15th century.

It also has a comprehensive concert programme with their own set of choirs (Berliner Domkantorei) and a brass ensemble (Berliner Dombläser), which visitors can enjoy listening to.

Tiergarten

Tiergarten is a huge lush park that stretches through central Berlin and provides a relaxing atmosphere that contrasts with the high speed and adrenaline of racing.

It has many attractions inside such as the Berlin zoo, the Victory Column with its winged statue, a playground, the Soviet War Memorial and the lakeside Café am Neuen See.

Watch the Berlin E-Prix

Formula E will drive at this 2.343 km (1.460 miles) street circuit for a double header race on June 12 and 13, with Pascal Wehrlein, David Beckmann and Maximilian Günther hoping to perform well at their home race.

Berlin has been the only city to be present on the Formula E calendar since season 1, with the race taking place at a retired airport called Tempelhof which serves as a huge park with picnic areas and communal gardens for most of the year.

Berlin TV Tower

The Berlin TV Tower is an iconic monument of the city where you can enjoy an unforgettable view of the entire city in this 368.03 m (1,207.45 ft) structure.

Visitors can eat and drink at their Sphere Bar and Restaurant which offers delicious international dishes and Berlin specialities, such as soups, schnitzel, veal and more.

Gendarmenmarkt

Gendarmenmarkt is a square in Berlin and the site of some stunning architecture that includes the Berlin concert hall, along with the French and German Churches.

Visitors can explore the area and admire the beautiful Neo-Classical buildings that were restored after World War II, but date back to the 18th century.

Classic Remise Berlin

Classic Remise Berlin is a classic car center with vintage cars for sale and glass garages, with Germany having a strong automobile history with brands such as Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and Porsche.

The building was originally a historic tram depot built in imperial times, but is now a must visit spot for car fans with clothing, model cars and accessories available to buy - and if you’re hungry you can eat at Restaurant Parc Fermé or Restaurant Trofeo inside.
