Seven of the best things to do during the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow

Heading to Charlotte for the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow? You’re in for more than just world-class golf.

Whether you’re stuck looking for something to do between tee times or travelling with someone who’s not glued to the leaderboard, there is plenty on offer in North Carolina’s vibrant city.

Here, Travel News Blitz’s Sam Condy breaks down seven of the best things to do during a golfing expedition to Quail Hollow.

The Green Mile

Quail Hollow’s final three holes, the infamous “Green Mile”, are iconic in the world of golf.

One of the toughest finishes in professional golf, drama is almost guaranteed. Make sure you get there early to grab a prime spectating spot and watch the chaos unfold.

Championship shops

For those lucky enough to have tickets to 2025’s second major, checking out the merchandise tent is a must.

The shop offers an array of PGA Tour goodies, from limited edition polos to ball markers and pins. A trip to the pop-up shop will ensure you tee off for your next round in style.

SouthPark

Minutes away from Quail Hollow, SouthPark is Charlotte's upscale shopping and dining district.

Browse the top brands at SouthPark Mall, or head for some gourmet tacos at Paco’s Tacos & Tequila. If you are not in a touristy mood, an afternoon strolling the shops will surely provide a much-needed reset.

Wing Haven Gardens

If you’re craving peace and quiet, Wing Haven is a hidden gem just a short drive from the course.

The scenic garden and bird sanctuary is one of the most beautiful locations in the local area.

Winding paths, blooming flowers and perfect picnic locations will allow you to properly cool after the PGA buzz.

Uptown Charlotte

Uptown Charlotte is the city’s beating heart.

Visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame, hop between the many lively bar venues, or check out the local art at the Mint Museum.

If you are a sports fan planning to stay for a few extra days, Charlotte's very own baseball team, the Charlotte Knights, take on the Round Rock Express at the nearby Truist Field on May 20.

South End Brewery Trail

Charlotte has a booming craft beer scene, and the South End is its hoppy heart.

While there is no official trail, the South End website has pointed out many of the best craft beer breweries in the area.

You don’t need to be a golf fan to enjoy a light-hearted - and slightly wobbly - afternoon bouncing between the many fantastic local beer spots in South End.

Little Sugar Creek Greenway

Ideal for a morning jog or an evening stroll, Little Sugar Creek Greenway is a peaceful urban trail nearby to Quail Hollow.

It winds through local parks and neighbourhoods, and offers many snack and drink spots along the way.

Summary

The PGA Championship at Quail Hollow may be the main event, but Charlotte offers plenty of side attractions to fill a weekend trip to North Carolina.

From garden strolls to brewery hopping and city exploring, there's no shortage of ways to round out your trip.

Golf may be the main attraction, but the Queen City will give you reasons to stay longer.
